NIKE: MIA HAMM WORKPLACE DESIGN

DESIGNING INSPIRING WORKSPACE FOR A GLOBAL POWERHOUSE

WORKPLACE DESIGN | BRAND STORYTELLING

With a handful of Nike Running-focused retail projects already under our belt, the Global Running Team brought us on board as they renovated their main offices at Nike Headquarters.

We partnered with Studio O+A and Nike’s internal Workplace Design Team for the large, two-phased project, with our scope being primarily focused on brand moments like murals and art installations that would appear across different areas in one of the largest integrated workspaces on Nike campus.

Floating collaborative meeting rooms were wrapped on all four sides with tonal graphics. This room features a 100% scale mural of a well-known running trail in Portland’s nearby Forest Park.

Another meeting room that sits next to the Forest Park landscape mural features a map of Forest Park’s many running trails. The tonal graphics wrapped the solid walls and over the spans of glass.

ONE EXECUTIVE DECLARED THE NEW RUNNING SPACE WAS “THE ENVY OF ALL NIKE CAMPUS.”

From a track lane-inspired main entrance that wrapped from floor, to walls and the ceiling, to large-scale tonal graphics that wrapped meeting rooms, and colorful murals on walls throughout, the open concept workspaces were treated with unexpected pops and brand storytelling that helped the entire space to come to life, and embody the style of ‘champion-minded work’ that Nike is known for.

Across the space, we designed nearly three dozen moments using a wide range of media and techniques. The completed project was incredibly well received by the running team as well as other Nike teams, with one executive declaring that the space was the “envy of all Nike campus.”

A giant mural in a lounge space features Olympian and Nike athlete, Allyson Felix. The concept was designed to communicate a sense of speed and was produced with a combination of printed graphics and hand-painted portions to give depth.

An informal huddle space with team lockers at left and a combination digital and hand designed mural in the background.

The athlete lounge featured a Victory Wall commemorating Nike running athletes who have medaled in past Olympic Games.

Tonal wall graphics were chosen to complement more colorful work areas such as this Flywire color studio workspace.
